Interesting point. The aviation industry has an excellent safety record, largely due to the investigation of every accident or near accident to find it’s root causes. If we can start doing the same on the roads this should make a significant improvement to safety.
I still think accidents happen in that you can’t prepare for every eventuality. In the case of aviation, there is almost never one cause of an accident, it is a sequence of events that lead to an unforseen outcome. An error is not that dissimilar but lacks the acknowledement that the outcome was not intended. Errors mean someone it blame and must pay. But that is nit picking!
Adding observability to our cars, driverless or not, should make the roads a safer place.
